sewing box is a new garden studio in Hove where you can learn to sew, adapt patterns or make lino prints in a small, relaxed, friendly group.  Alison, the tutor, trained in the fashion industry before running her own design label.  She is an experienced seamstress, designer, pattern cutter and teacher and ran the renowned Liberty Sewing School, Regent St for several years.  She offers classes for each ability level and also undertakes garment alterations and commissions by appointment.

About the tutor

Alison is an experienced teacher who used to run the Liberty Sewing School in the famous Regent Street store.  She trained at the London College of Fashion which led to a career in the fashion industry, and therefore brings many professional tips and techniques to her classes.  If you are a beginner, she can quickly set you up to sew simple clothes and accessories; you will soon have the satisfaction of making items to wear that are unique and fit you!  If you are more experienced, Alison has a wealth of tips to share.  She offers a variety of workshops with skills from pattern making to zips and tailoring techniques.  She is a fully qualified teacher and taught Textiles and Design Technology in schools for a number of years.
